The importance of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs)

The ICTs are present in all the sectors of society, from culture to economy, from education to health, being, therefore, an available tool, present in our day-to-day, sometimes, almost without us noticing.

The acquisition of knowlwdge, the perfection of personal competences, or the development of new comptetences, in a simple way, which permit the enrichment and the personal valorization, as it was never before, upto digital era, had been possible.

The migrant population also can benefit form the ICTs in diverse areas:

  • It is a powerful form of communication, permitting contact with their families and friends in country of origin, minimizing the distance.
  • It makes it possible the access to informations about the country which welcomed them.
  • Permits consultation and treatment of documents in a easier way, sometimes without a necessity of deslocation.
  • It can be a precious help in job seeking: elaboration of Curriculum Vitae and presentation letters, search of job, response to applications….
  • It is a valuable tool of work: from any place, with flexible time, in a more global market and without the traditional borders, permit a none presential job.
  • Any moment and without geographical barriers, the information and the communication can be from a distance.

We continue our Basic Informatics courses

The Ctrl+Alt+Emprego project is providing 40-hour computer training courses for migrants.

This is an opportunity to learn about:

- Using Windows tools/applications;
- Managing folders and files;
- Creating and formatting documents, using Microsoft Word;
- Using the Google Chrome browser;
- E-mail management (sending, receiving and archiving);
- Developing a CV;
- Looking for a job on the Internet.

Accompanying, serving and advocate

 Without minding of the nationality, the age, the gender or the religion, the JRS has as a mission « Accompanying, serving and advocate» the refugees, the ones deslocated by force and all the migrants in a particular vulnerable situation.

In consonance with this mission, cabinet of Job of JRS, during this presente year, is organising 40 hours formative actions in basic informatics.

CTRL+ALT Emprego: Focus Group

In the first phase of the  Ctr+Alt+Emprego project, we aim to hold 4 Focus Groups, which aim to be a space for sharing information and knowledge among various working groups (Migrants, Organizations, Employers), thus allowing an efficient survey of data/needs relating to the target audience.

The first Focus Group was held on 14 May this year and was attended by 6 organisations:

The project “Ctrl+Alt+Emprego” has already finalized her first action of formation!

Inserted in the project “Ctrl+Alt+Emprego”, she realized her first formation in basic informatics, of 40 hours, in which 6 people participated.

It was with great joy that we captured the interest of the trainees, who inspite of pandemic and cold, attended with dedication the sessions.
